Month total

Usually my goals are kept track of on my Garmin site but since this was stolen and I haven't yet got round to replacing it I'm back to counting minutes run.  At a conservative estimate I run 1k per 7min 30 (usually faster according to my stats but don't want to overestimate my kilometer total). so with 349 minutes since the loss of the Garmin I can add 47k to the 99 I'd already logged which means I'm still (just) on target.

Fancy Foreigners

159min
Start 11.30

Had a couple of 'errands' which involved visiting workplaces in Reeuwijk today so decided to do them on my run.  On the way to the campingvan builder I spotted a very fancy looking duck and thought it was an escaped tame one but later I saw a whole flock of them in a field so they must be one of the many Scandinavian birds who apparantly come here to spend the winter in relative warmth.  (Photos later.)
Hmm, later, looking at the photos they look like totally different ducks from the first one but they are definitely different from the usual residents.

Not logged run...

100 min
Start 7.30

Cold start

Finally got over sulking about the missing Garmin and went out for a run this morning.  I am planning to get a new one and am still swithering about which model to get.

Mile 8.54

6.75k + 15 min
Start 8.55

After my morning run my Garmin was stolen from where I'd put it outside for 2 minutes to find the satellites while I put my shoes on for an afternoon dog run.  I spent some time running about searching ridiculously for it but it was really gone.  Went out for 15 minutes after finding an old watch to time it with, but no map, no miles logged...

Mile 9.01

8.17k
Start 11.10
Didn't take my belt with me so no photos.  Sproet and I went round the allotments first then I did a faster mile circuit round the park on my own.

Mile 9.45

6.47k
Start 11.40

Shortish run with Sproet then brought him home and read the paper and ate a pear in his house before going out again for an attempt at a faster mile than yesterday.  Failed miserably, partly because I stopped to play with a young Ridgeback on one of my circuits of the park.

Mile 9.15

4.33k
Start 17.25
Jogged round the park with Sproet then gave him his tea and went out for a faster mile on my own and then a cooldown slower run for the last bit home.

Naked Run

6.82k
Start 16.05
Nah, not really naked but I tend to 'feel naked' without my running belt with camera/phone/waterbottles/dogpoobags/ipod/kitchensink with me.  As I didn't have my camera and only had time for a shorter than normal run I left it at home this time.  Couple of mile repeats after the warm-up with 400m recovery jog in between.  The first one was under my 5k goal time of 6m/p/k, the second one wasn't.  Ah well, at least made the effort.

Early Morning Cruzin'

11.24k
Start 6.30

Listened to an old episode of the Early Morning Cruzin' podcast as I wanted a wee change from my more usual programmes and it was an episode about Hallowe'en costumes.  Soon remembered why I hadn't really 'caught on' to this particular podcast.  It's one of those 'talking while running' ones which I don't really like.  (Kevin from The Extra Mile can just get away with it as he only does it at the start and the end and there are a lot of different voices in between. And he's an old favourite by now.)  As well as the panting he does quite a bit if spitting, sniffing spectacularly and burping.  Em, there is a way of editing these things out, I'm sure.
Anyway, auditory horrors aside, run went really well.  Reasonable speed and a jumping back and forth over the raised kerb session.
As usual, glad I got out.  Didn't manage it yesterday morning and regretted it all day.
